Y5 Loudmouth Workshop

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of Year 5 & 6 children’s PSHE curriculum (Personal, Social and Health Education), Woodthorpe School have organised a workshop to help raise awareness and prepare our children for the changes involved in puberty and understand that they are a normal part of adolescence.  It will take place on Thursday 19th May 2022.

Puberty is something that happens to all children regardless of their background, ethnicity or gender.  It can be a confusing time with body changes, new emotions and the transition from primary to secondary school.  This fun theatre in education programme is entitled, ‘My Mate Fancies You’ and it is designed to help young people aged 9 – 12 years old to learn about the changes ahead.  It will include a 45-minute drama performance followed by a 45-minute interactive workshop in small groups.

As with all Loudmouth’s work, the programme supports learners to understand the importance of creating healthy, happy and safe relationships.

Please see the attached leaflet for further information about this programme.

401 USA Challenge Update

I hope you’ve been managing to stay active over the Easter holidays! Here are the updated distances from the end of the Spring Term. Ben Smith really enjoyed his visit to Woodthorpe on Friday 8th April and was incredibly impressed with your achievements since September. I will be collecting passports in again on Thursday. For your information, week commencing Monday 25th April is ‘Week 33’ in the passports.

Sing&Sign/Choir

For those pupils who participate in the above group, here is the video with lyrics to the song we have been practicing. Practice singing and learning all the words at home during the holiday (sorry parents) and we will ‘jazz it up’ when we get back next term. A reminder that there will be no choir the first week back and payment will be online (via the usual method) at some point during that week. Enjoy!
