Thank you for all the kind, creative, personalised and tasty gifts I have received over the past few days! I want to extend my heart felt thanks for all the efforts you’ve gone to and I’m grateful for the wonderful messages written in cards.

It’s been a year with a number of challenges, especially when remote learning. I want to say thank you to everyone in Year 4 for adapting so well; you have shown amazing determination! I would also like to thank all of the parents; you have been constantly supportive and encouraging!

Year 4, thank you for coming on this journey over the past year and for being such wonderful learners. I will miss you all!

Have a brilliant Summer break.

Task: Investigating materials that are good at sound proofing

What materials do you think will be best at stopping sound?

If sound is caused by vibration, what materials could reduce or stop this vibration?

  1. Try sound proofing a clap by using different materials between your hands as you clap.
  2. Record which materials are most or least effective at reducing sound sound.
  3. You can create your own table of results OR draw diagrams of your experiment.

Question: Now that you have carried out your experiment, which material do you think would be best to put on the walls of a music recording studio and why?

Non-Uniform Day – Friday 16th July 2021

Our non-uniform day on Friday 16th July 2021 will be based on the children coming to school dressed as one of their favourite sporting heros! They should be spoilt for choice after an incredibly positive European Football Tournament over recent weeks, as well as only being days away from the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

We are asking for a £1 donation that will be supporting one of our major boys’ secondary feeder schools, Wheelers Lane Technology College, in their quest to upgrade their outdoor astro-turf playing facilities.

The school have offered to send some of their PE staff over to Woodthorpe from September as a ‘Thank You’ for our support (curriculum support / lunchtime opportunities), as well as being able to benefit from using the upgraded facilties once completed. As always, thank you for your continued support, it’s greatly appreciated by us all.

Mr Trevor
